Croatian Music Company Cinkuši
biography
Music is the principal medium through which Cinkuši express their ideas and outlook on the world.
Their foundation is the abundant treasury of Croatian folklore, above all the tradition of the Kajkavian-speaking region, into which they interpolate their authorial approach and literary models, even clichés that evoke collective emotionality.
In the tradition of the Kajkavian region, a “cinkuš” is a bell that accompanies people from the day they are born until the day they die. It awakens, announces, warns, rings the alarm; it is a wedding bell as well as a Golgotha one.
Thanks to the vigour, sincerity and immediacy present since the company was formed in the mid-nineties, Cinkuši have endured regardless of trends.
